How to Sprout Trinidad Scorpion Seeds

Instead of planting your Trinidad Scorpion seeds directly into the ground, you should start your seeds in starter containers.  Mix potting soil and a little fertilizer and plant the seeds about 1 inch deep.  It will take about 14 days for the seeds to sprout.  When the sprouts are about 2 inches tall you will want to remove the sprouts that are unhealthy.  You will want space for you sprouts to grow well.  Keep the soil damp but not drenched.  You will be ready to plant in your garden now.

Plant the sprouts about 14 inches apart.  This will give them the space they need to really grow.  You don’t want to over water your Trinidad Scorpion seeds.  This can dilute the SHU of the plants.  When the plant just starts to wilt, it will be time to water.  When you do water them give them a thorough drenching.  Your plants should be in full sunlight.  They also prefer hot temperatures so don’t plant until the day and evening temperatures are above 65 degrees.

You will know when the fruit is ripe by the color.  Usually the color will go from green to yellow to an orange or red color.  The Trinidad scorpion gets its name from the protrusion that resembles a scorpion stinger at the bottom of the fruit.

Drying Hot Peppers

There are a couple ways that hot peppers can be dried.  The best method is air drying.  You will want to leave the peppers intact.  That means leaving the stem and seeds on them.  You will want to string your fruits together using a needle and fishing string.  Hang them in a very warm place.  It is best to air dry outside where the temperatures are warm.  It could take a couple of weeks for your peppers to dry.  To end up with Trinidad scorpion seeds that you can plant, this is the best method to use.

You can dry them in a dehydrator or oven also.  This will take several hours.  You will also have to deal with offensive fumes.  The fumes will be irritating to your eyes.  You would be better off drying the plants outside.

Don’t handle any part of the Trinidad Scorpion Pepper without wearing gloves.  Don’t touch your eyes or mouth or you could suffer from irritation.  Throw the gloves away when you are finished.  The oil will remain on the gloves.
